How to make a perfect Iced Tea

Posted by: admin  :  Category: Drinks, tea

The great thing about making iced tea is that there are many different types of tea leaves and flavours that can be used. You can find experiment with teas of all sorts when they buy tea online. A person can buy tea in the bag or loose leaf tea. They can also buy teas that are from the major tea leaf grouping, or they can buy exotic preparations of tea that are especially blended to make a gourmet pitcher of iced tea.

There are three very common types of teas that are sold in the supermarket and that can certainly be purchased online. There is black leaf tea. This is tea that is matured and that has been dried until it develops a very dark colour. This is the tea that is most commonly used for the preparation of iced tea.   This is because this is the most common and inexpensive type of tea leaf that is manufactured and that is sold to restaurants who use this to make iced tea. Because this tea is mature and has a strong brew, one needs to make sure that they don’t steep these tea leaves too long. While some people drink this type of iced tea unsweetened, other people prefer to sweeten it.

Then there is green tea leaves. These are tea leaves that are of a different strain, have a nice nutty and grassy flavour, and they aren’t brewed dark like black tea leaves. Green tea leaves are most associated with Asian foods and drinks. However, there has been such a demand for green tea that one can buy it online, or they can buy it prepared in grocery stores.

White tea is green tea that isn’t matured yet. It’s known for having an extremely soft and silky flavour. It’s very light on the palate.  When making green or white tea, it’s important not to steep the tea leaves for too long. Parts of the appeal of these teas are their lighter flavour. These teas also highlight the flavour of lemon very well. They also do a wonderful job of making very refreshing iced tea drinks.

Many people tend to sweeten these teas with honey, instead of sugar.   On the other hand, black tea takes to cream better, because of its heavy taste. Most people will add milk or cream to hot tea, but they can also make tasty iced tea drinks with cream or milk as well. Some people love to add cream to flavoured teas, especially those that are flavoured like fruit, in order to make a delicious, refreshing, light yet creamy drink.

The art of brewing Tea

Posted by: admin  :  Category: tea

Brewing tea may seem simple, but making the perfect cup of tea is both art and science. The brewer must use high-quality tea and optimum brewing equipment, and the right amount of water. The water temperature and the brewing time must be adjusted correctly as well. Any inconsistencies or mistakes in the usage of these elements could lead to a cup of tea that tastes bitter or insipid.

Tea bags are typically filled with tea dust and tend to give you a lower quality of taste and flavour. Loose leaf tea delivers great results and brewers seeking a full flavour and aroma should brew tea using loose leaf. When the loose leaf is added to the water, it should have space to expand and move about. Therefore, the brewer must use a tea pot that carries a large infuser. A large infuser also allows the brewer to stop brewing at the time of his choice.

Glass teapots can make the tea brewing process seem attractive and metal (silver, steel) teapots may look sleek. However, ceramic teapots keep the tea warmer for a long while and old school tea brewers use ceramic and clay tea pots, even though clay teapots are known to absorb flavour. Glass teapots must be used only when the brewer wants to make the tea making experience visually appealing. Glass teapots will also need cosies to keep the tea warm.

The water used to brew tea must have a lot of oxygen. So, it will be a good idea to freshly draw cold water for tea brewing. Boiling water for a long time must be avoided because that drains the water of oxygen. Water supplied by the city water board will carry chemicals that will rob the tea of flavour. Using filtered or bottled water should bring in the desired results.

Another aspect to pay attention to is the water temperature. People often steep the tea in boiling water, and doing that can rob the tea of its flavours. Black teas can be brewed with boiling water while Oolongs should be brewed when the temperature is a notch-below-boil. The water used to brew green teas should be boiled up to 82 °C, and no more. The important thing to remember is not to over-boil the water.

So, how much tea should be added? The rule of thumb is that one teaspoon works well for a 6-ounce cup. Low quality teas require more leaf, while high quality teas, like the ones from Whittard, don’t. Brewers can also refer to the instructions carried on the packs. Every tea is unique and quantity-of-tea-per-cup may vary per variety.

Steeping time depends on the tea’s leaf and its grade. Teas that yield liquor must be brewed based on time, not colour. Black teas can be steeped up to 7 minutes. Oolongs can be steeped between 1.5 and 4 minutes and greens between 2 and 3 minutes. A longer steeping time results in extra bitterness, and people looking for a strong cup of tea should add in more tea leaves instead of brewing tea for a longer period.

These were the basic nitty-gritty’s of brewing the perfect cup of tea. One important step in brewing a high-quality cup of tea is to buy tea from a reputed dealer who knows the ins and outs of tea. Sourcing tea from an inexperienced vendor can adversely impact the tea drinker’s experience. Once the tea is bought, everything else depends on the brewing equipment and tea-brewing skills.

Tea Party Accessories

Posted by: admin  :  Category: tea

Here in England, tea parties have been around since the 1600s. Today, they are now considered as an important part of the country’s culture and tradition. Tea parties have evolved to more than just being social gatherings of friends and families. They are now used to raise funds for noble causes by different people from all over the globe. So for those of you who are new to tea parties and are planning to host one soon, read on and learn about the most basic party accessories and ideas that you can use on that next gathering.

The very first thing that you need to do the moment you have decided to host a tea party is to know how to make a good drink. Of course, you’ll need to have the right accessories first to be able to do this. You must have a good kettle for boiling water. Always use fresh, cold water since they contain less mineral content than the heated ones. Minerals on the water can alter the taste of the tea when present in larger amounts.

After boiling, put water into the teapot and add in 1 teaspoon of tea for every 6-8 ounces of the drink that you plan to make. Always try to be accurate if you want to get the best tasting cups. Never add your tea to boiling water because this leaves out a bitter and undesirable after taste. Wait for a few minutes before actually making the tea. Cover the pot and let it sit for a few minutes. Never let it stand too long until it gets cold because tea is always drunk hot. Another very important thing that you need to consider when holding tea parties is the number of people you want to invite. This will help you determine just how much tea and finger foods you need to prepare. Aside from that, you also need to take into account the number of tea pot sets – from cups, saucers spoons, tongs, serving plates and napkins that you need to have to accommodate all of your guests.

You can also make your very own party menu if you want to serve various kinds of teas and finger foods during the gathering. If you are planning to have a lot of people around, opt to have more amounts and lesser varieties of food to accommodate everyone. The less varied your selections are, the easier they are to make.

If you think you’re ready to get the party started, then you can start sending out party invitations, just as they did during the old days. Make sure that you give out the correct time and date of the event to prevent any kind of misunderstanding among your guests. It would also help if you state the preferred dress code as well.

And lastly, tie everything together by revolving on a single theme. You can go dining al fresco and use tea pot sets that are also decorated with garden paintings or table sheets that have floral and spring-inspired designs. And if you want to have more fun during your tea parties, you can also opt to do some party games as well.
