Do you want to throw a fantastic Christmas party? You can, with these few simple tips.
Make sure you send out invitations well ahead of time
The most important thing to a member of you want people to come to a Christmas party you’re throwing is to send out invitations well ahead of time so that people have time to schedule you in so that they can attend. It may also a good idea NOT to throw the party exactly ON Christmas Day, unless you know the people who want to attend your party won’t have other plans that will make them unable to attend, such as having to visit family out of state.
Buy your supplies
You should also make your plans well ahead of time so that you have plenty of time to buy supplies. You can make your party as fancy or informal as you want, depending on your tastes and the amount of money you want to spend. The supplies you buy should go into these categories:
Food
Any food you will have at the party should be bought enough in advance that you have time to prepare. What kind of food are you going to have? Are you going to do simple hors d’oeuvres, a sitdown meal, a mix of both? Buy your supplies several days in advance that you have a day or two to do the cooking before the party. If you wish, to make life simpler, you can even have guests bring their favorite dishes to the party, as a sort of Christmas ‘potluck’.
Drinks
Whatever you want to stock at your bar; such as a variety of soft drinks, nonalcoholic or alcoholic punch, mixed drinks, beer, and so forth.
Nonfood eating supplies (utensils, plates, glasses, napkins)
Many places rent eating necessities like utensils, plates, glasses, and even cloth napkins and tablecloths, at pretty reasonable prices. You may want to consider this over laying in a supply of disposables. The difference in cost is negligible if not even cheaper than buying disposables especially if your party is going to be larger, and you will be doing the environment a favour, too.
Decorations
Simple, or complex? The choice is yours; just make sure you have plenty of time to do that and any cooking you’re going to do, too.
Entertainment (music CDs, etc.)
Again, this is something that’s completely personal to you. You can also have guests bring their own favorite music to put on at the party.
A final note: Make it personal
The most important thing you need to remember if you do is that you want to make it uniquely and personally yours. You want to make it memorable, so that people will remember it for years to come. Perhaps you can even schedule a reverse call charge or two during the party, so that you can hear from loved ones or friends who can’t be with you personally. Make your party uniquely and completely yours, and make people feel comfortable and welcome. That’s what will truly make it memorable.
